학교, 도시 속으로 들어오다
<운동장>
서울에서 아이들을 위한 공간인 학교는 공통적으로 운동장을 가지고 있습니다. 학교가 일정 구역마다 위치하고, 비어 있는 운동장의 모습에서 학교가 중심적인 역할을 할 수 있는 가능성을 가지고 있다고 생각하였습니다.
<담장과 학교의 고립성>
학교를 둘러싸고 있는 담장은 학교와 아이들의 도시와 사회에서의 고립성을 물리적으로 드러낸다고 생각하였습니다. 그러나 학교와 아이들은 명백히 우리 사회의 구성원입니다. 또한 학교와 관련된 정책에서 학교를 단순히 지역 기반 시설로 바라보고 아이들의 객관적인 숫자만으로 학교의 통폐합 논의가 진행된다는 점에서 아이들의 학교가 중심적인 역할을하며 도시 속으로 들어올 필요가 있다고 생각하였습니다.
<재동초등학교의 레노베이션>
재동초등학교 본관의 경우 동측과 서측이 개별적으로 지어졌고, 부분적인 증축, 개축의 과정을 거치면서 과거 1900년대 초반 학교 입면의 모습이 지금까지 유지되었다는 점을 알 수 있었습니다. 이에 재동초등학교의 기존 건물들을 지역 주민도 함께 사용하거나 학교 생활을 뒷받침하는 프로그램으로 구성한 레노베이션을 통해 현재 건물도 함께 하는 배치를 고민하였습니다.
<새 거리 학교에 대한 제안>
새로운 학교 공간의 경우 경계부에서 지역주민과 아이들이 함께 사용하며 작동하는 프로그램(도서관, 공방)을 통해 학교가 거리, 도시와 상호작용을 하는 방식에서 시작하였습니다. 학교 내부 공간의 경우 실내 체육관을 품고 외부로도 운동장이 들어오도록 구성하여 아이들이 넓은 공간을 언제든 사용할 수 있도록 하였습니다. 또한 열린 통로, 워크샵 교실, 가변형 교실의 공간을 통해 아이들이 적성과 흥미를 찾아 개별적으로, 혹은 친구들과 함께 학교 생활을 지낼 수 있는 학교 공간을 구상하였습니다.
Becoming a part of the city
<Empty space>
The playgrounds inside the schools of our city are shown as a wide empty space. Because schools are located in certain areas and contain a sort of wide empty space, schools have the potential to be a center.
<Isolation>
Schools are surrounded by fences, which show the isolation of schools and children from our society and the city. However, children and schools are apparently a member of our city. Moreover, policies view schools merely as social infrastructures and school closings are decided only by the objective numbers of children. Therefore, there is a need for schools, a center for children to become a part of the city.
<Current school buildings>
In case of Jaedong elementary school, the east and west part of the main building were built separately and by partial reconstruction, contains the appearance of the 1900s to this day. From the historical value of the main building, the current buildings are kept and renovated with programs that support school activities or are also used with nearby residents.
<Proposal for a street school>
In case of the new school building, programs such as library, and crafts workshops are located in the periphery areas which can be used by local residents and school children. The school holds an indoor gym and from outside, the empty space is met that kids get easy access to wide space to freely run around. In addition, from open halls, workshops classrooms, variable classrooms, children can find their interests and aptitude alone or with their friends.
