Kyungah Lee graduated from the Department of Architecture at Seoul National University, and received her master's and doctoral degrees from the same university. She previously worked at the Department of Hanok Culture in Seoul Metropolitan Government and taught students at the Department of Traditional Architecture at the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage. Since 2023, she has been teaching and studying at the Department of Architecture at Seoul National University.
She received her Ph.D. with her dissertation titled 『Adoption and Evolution of the Concept of Culture House during the Japanese Colonial Period in Korea』, and she continues to study modern architecture and urban changes in East Asian countries, including Korea. Her representative book is 「Residential Areas in Kyeongseong(Seoul): Development of Kyeongseong Housing Areas in the Era of Population Explosion」. In 2017, she received the Science and Technology Outstanding Paper Award from the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies for her thesis on the Gahoe-dong Hanok complex development of Jeong Se-gwon, and in 2020, she received the Nampa (Park Hak-jae) Award from the Architectural Institute of Korea, and was awarded the Seoul Mayor's Commendation in 2012 and 2018.
