서울대학교 건축학과에서 공학사, 공학석사를, 미국 하버드대학교 디자인대학원에서 건축 및 도시설계 석사를 취득하였다. 서울의 (주)공간종합건축사사무소, 뉴욕의 Perkins Eastman Architect D.P.C 에서 실무하였으며 홍익대학교 건축도시대학에서 교수로 근무하였다. 미국 뉴욕주 건축사로 2016년 mmk+를 공동 설립하고 여러 프로젝트를 진행하였으며, 2023년부터 서울대학교 건축학과에 재직하고 있다. 주요한 작업으로는 노들섬, 동성고등학교 샛별관, 용인 타보르산 영성원, 당진 난지섬 등의 준공작과 제주시민회관, 광화문광장, 인천뮤지엄파크, 강서구청사, 잠실5단지 주거복합시설, 통영 폐조선소 도시재생 마스터플랜 등의 국제설계공모 수상작이 있다. 건축문화대상, 대한민국 공공건축상, 서울시 건축상, 경기도 건축문화상, Architizer A+Award 등을 수상하였으며, UIA 2017 서울세계건축대회 기념전, 2017년과 2023년 서울도시건축비엔날레에 작가로 참여하였다.

Pilsoo Maing received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Sciecne in Architecture from the Seoul National University, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He worked at the Space Group in Seoul and Perkins Eastman Architect D.P.C. in New York, and worked as a professor at Hongik University School of Architecture. As an New York state architect and co-founder of mmk+, he carried out several projects, and has been teaching in the Department of Architecture and Architecutural Engineering at Seoul National University since 2023.
Major works include completed works such as Nodeul Island, Yongin Tabor Mountain Spiritual Center, Dongseong High School venus hall, and Dangjin Nanji Island, as well as international design competitions such as Jeju Civic Center, New Gwanghwamun Square, Gangseo-gu Office, Jamsil 5 Complex, and Tongyeong Shipyard Urban Regeneration Master Plan. He won the Korean Architecture Award, the Korea Public Architecture Award, the Seoul Metropolitan Architecture Award, the Gyeonggi-do Architectural Culture Award, and the Architizer A+Award, and participated in the 2017 and 2023 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.
