Dr. Nam-Hee Kim earned her Ph.D. in 1994 from Lehigh University in USA, on information modeling for the development of integrated design systems. Since then, various researches have been carried out with the convergence of structural engineering and IT technology as the direction of research results. In 1998, she began research on seismic engineering as a research professor at Korea Earthquake Engineering Research Center at Seoul National University. On the other hand, through the study of structural aesthetics, which began in 2004 as a chief researcher at Korea Bridge Design & Engineering Research Center, she has established a concept for the integration of technology and art while developing design tools for creating design alternatives at conceptual design stage. Hoping that these research findings will contribute to the development of structural engineering, she continues her research on structural planning and structural system development focusing on structural aesthetics.
