서울대 관악사 삼거리 문화시설 조성
관악사삼거리는 기숙사를 오가는 학생들, 버스를 타는 학생들, 수업을 들으러 가는 학생들로 북적인다. 그런 관악사삼거리의 가운데에 위치한 주차장은 출근하는 학교 구성원들의 차량들이 주차되고 난 뒤 오로지 차량을 위한 공간으로 전락한다. 이처럼 많은 학생들이 접근 가능하다는 이 사이트의 이점이 주차장이라는 건물의 용도로 인해 가려지고 있다. 문화생활이나 여가생활을 즐기기 위해 캠퍼스로부터 멀리 이동해야 하는 상황 속에서 이 곳에 학생들을 위한 문화교류시설을 조성함으로써 관악사삼거리가 관악캠퍼스에서 가지고 있는 사이트적 이점을 제고한다.
'문'이라는 것은 사람들로 하여금 기존과 다른 새로운 공간, 새로운 지역으로 이동함을 상징한다. 그런 의미에서 관악캠퍼스의 정문에는 그 역할을 충실히 수행하고 있는 상징물이 존재하지만 후문에는 존재하지 않는다. 캠퍼스 내에 주거시설과 구분 짓는 상징적 경계를 관악사삼거리로 가정하고 삼거리가 그 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 하는 상징물을 제안한다.
현재 사이트는 가파른 경사지에 의해 둘러싸여 있고 이는 주차장으로 사용되기에는 문제가 없으나 사람들을 위한 공간을 조성하기 위해서는 빛 환경적으로 열악하다는 문제가 존재한다. 이와 동시에 경사지로 인해 수직적으로 분리되는 동선은 처음에 의도한 학생들 간의 교류와 소통을 방해했다. 이를 해결하기 위해 스페이스 프레임으로 이루어진 빛 기둥을 도입하여 빛환경을 개선함과 동시에 빛기둥의 투명성을 통해 학생들 간의 교류와 소통을 더욱 촉진시키고자 하였다.
빛 기둥의 스페이스 프레임은 지붕과 외벽까지 이어져 건물 외피 전체를 구성한다. 이 위에 내부의 열환경과 빛환경을 개선하기 위한 가변형 차양장치를 도입했고, 이는 비정형의 스페이스 프레임과 함께 외적으로 관악캠퍼스를 다채롭고 동적으로 만드는 작용을 한다.
SNU Gwanaksa-Samgeori Cultural Facility
The Gwanaksa-Samgeori is crowded with students going to the dormitory, taking buses, and going to classes. The parking lot, located in the middle of the Gwanak-sa Samgeori, is reduced to a space for vehicles only after the vehicles of school members who go to work are parked. The site's advantage of being accessible to such a large number of students is overshadowed by the building's use as a parking lot. In a situation where they have to move away from campus to enjoy cultural or leisure life, by creating a cultural facility for students here, the Gwanak-sa Samgeori enhances the site advantage of the Gwanak Campus.
The 'door' symbolizes the movement of people to a new space and new area that is different from the existing ones. In that sense, there is a symbol that faithfully fulfills its role at the front gate of the Gwanak Campus, but it does not exist at the back gate. Assuming that the symbolic boundary that separates residential facilities on campus is the Gwanak-sa Samgeori, we propose the symbol that enables it to fulfill its role.
Currently, the site is surrounded by steep slopes. It has no problem to be used as a parking lot, but there is a problem of poor light environment to create space for people. At the same time, the vertical separation of the circulation due to the slope hindered the originally intended exchange and communication between students. In order to solve this problem, the light environment was improved by introducing a light column made of space frames, and at the same time, it was intended to further promote exchange and communication between students through the transparency of the light column.
The space frame of the light column extends to the roof and the exterior wall, forming the entire exterior of the building. On top of this, a kinetic louvre was introduced to improve the internal thermal and light environments, and it works to make the Gwanak Campus colorful and dynamic from the outside along with the atypical space frame.
