을지로 세운 5-1구역은 을지로 3가역과 을지로 4가역 사이에 위치하며 청계천에 맞닿아 있는 공구거리 일대이다. 세운 5-1구역은 70년의 오랜 역사를 가지고 있으며, 문화재적인 성격을 띈다. 오랜 기간 금속-정밀업에 종사한 작업자들에게 이 구역은 꼭 필요한 공간이다. 그러나 이 구역은 오래되고 낮고 좁은 벽식 구조체들이 높은 밀도로 붙어 있어 작업환경이 좋지 않다. 또한 소방 도로의 부재 등 인프라 자체가 열악하다. 이번 프로젝트에서는 상생협약체결 및 공사대금 지원을 통해 젠트리피케이션 현상을 최소화한다. 이를 통해 기존의 상권을 최대한으로 유지함과 동시에 더 나은 인프라를 제공하여 해당 일대를 경제적으로 사용할 수 있도록 한다. 또한 내부에 기둥이 없는 메가 헷 트러스 행잉 구조를 통해 흥미로운 건축 분위기를 조성해 을지로를 방문하는 사람들에게 상징적인 쉼터를 제공하고자 한다.
Euljiro sewoon district 5-1 is located between Euljiro 3-ga station and Euljiro 4-ga station and is the area of mechanic street facing Cheoonggye Stream. Sewoon district 5-1 has a long history of 70 years and a cultural property. This district is absolutely necessary architectural zone for workers who have been in the metal-precision industry for a long time. However, it has very awful work environment. Because it is composited with old, low and narrow wall structures are attached each others. In addition, the infrastructure itself, such as the absence of a fire road, is poor. This project minimizes gentrification through conclusion of agreement and construction cost support. Through this, the existing commercial district is maintained to the fullest extent while providing better infrastructure so that the area can be used economically. Additionally, we will provide a monumentality rest area for who visit a Euljiro by an architectural attractive air through mega hat truss hanging structure system does not have any interior column.
