우리의 일상의 배경이 되는 곳은 사는 곳과 일하는 곳입니다. 하지만 이런 일상적인 공간들은 우리들까지 지극히 합리적이고 기계적인 존재로 느끼게 할 뿐입니다. 진실로 현재에 있다면 무엇보다 일상 속 숨은 욕구를 돌보는 것이 가장 중요하다 생각합니다. 일상속에도 어떤 여지가 남아있는 공간이 있으면 좋겠습니다.
설계 대상지는 혼자사는 1인 청년이 가장 많은 관악구, 그 중에서도 대학동입니다. 새로운 시작을 하는 청년들의 거주지인 대학동은 차로 혼잡하고 건물은 무미건조한 표정을 짓고 있습니다. 길과 산은 옹벽으로 구분되어 있고 각각의 길들은 높이차로 인해 서로 단절되어 있습니다.
골목, 원룸이 재미없는 이유는 각 방의 모양, 입면의 모양 때문이 아니라 그 곳에 어떤 사건이나 상상의 여지도 없기 때문이라 생각했습니다. 따라서 저는 집내부의 프로토타입을 만들기보다는 집들 사이에서 해결책을 찾고자 했습니다. 골목을 통째로 새로 짓는 것이 아니라 기존의 버려진 공간들을 이용했습니다.
창업, 창작, 업무거점이 생기고 산과 길을 연결하는 거점도 생깁니다. 모든 거점들은 높이차와 틈새로 엇갈려 있습니다. 이 엇갈림은 와류를 형성하고 수직 수평보이드를 통해 연결됩니다. 각각의 거점 건물은 지상과 옥상, 건물과 건물 길과 길들을 연결하며 거주자들의 삶, 일, 놀이를 지원합니다. 기존의 원룸들이 옥상을 통해 연결됨으로써 비슷한 일을 하는 사람들끼리 함께 살며 서로 소통할 수 있습니다.
길을 가다 우연히 하늘을 보았을 때, 지긋지긋한 현실 위에 다른 여지가 있음을 보여주는 공간이 되었으면 합니다.
The ordinary spaces of our daily life are where we live and where we work. However, these ordinary spaces only make us feel as if we were extremely rational and mechanical beings. If we are to be truly in the present, it is most important to take care of the hidden desires in our daily lives. Therefore, it would be nice to have a space where something interesting can happen in our daily lives.
The site is located in Daehak-dong, Gwanak-gu which has the highest number of young single person household in Korea. Even though Daehak-dong is place of living for many young people who are starting a new life, it is crowded with cars and the buildings have dry faces. In the site I chose, the road and the mountain are separated by a retaining wall, and each road is cut off from each other due to the height difference.
The reason why streets and buildings for single households in the site are not interesting is not because of the shape of each room or the façade. It’s because there is no room for any events or imagination there. So I wanted to find a solution between the buildings and the streets rather than creating a prototype space for the buildings. Instead of building a whole new street or alley, I used existing abandoned spaces.
In this new site, there will be bases for start-up, creation, and work, as well as bases for connecting mountains and roads. All the bases are placed alternatively by height differences and gaps. This crossing arrangement forms a whirlpool in the site but it is also connected through vertical and horizontal voids. Each base building supports the life, work and play of people by connecting the ground , the roof, and the building and the building roads and roads. Existing studios are connected through the roof, allowing people who have similar jobs to live and communicate with each other.
I hope this space reminds people that there is still room for other interesting things in life on top of the boring and too ordinary reality when we accidentally look up at the sky while walking down the street.
