북정마을 리모델링 – 주민들과 방문객들을 위한 복합 문화공간
Remodeling Bukjeong Village – a cultural complex for residents and visitors
서울의 대표적인 부촌인 성북동 외교관 사택단지를 경계 짓는 경사 너머로 한양도성 성곽 바로 아래 산기슭에는 ‘서울의 마지막 달동네’라 불리는 성북동 북정마을이 있습니다. 2011년 8월에 재개발 구역으로 지정되었고 현재 한옥마을 조성을 큰 그림으로 조합설립인가가 난 상태지만, 주민 갈등으로 인하여 개발이 무산되어 아직도 주민들은 매우 열악한 환경에서 살고 있습니다.
본 계획안은 사람들에게 외면되어 기능을 하지 못하는 북정마을 초입을 거주민들을 위한 공간으로 탈바꿈하는 동시에 이곳에 들리는 사람들도 방문할 수 있는 상생의 문화공간으로 만들어 통합적 도시재생의 특징을 갖는 리모델링을 제안하고자 합니다.
북정마을 리모델링 프로젝트의 핵심은 노후화된 거주환경을 개선하고 동시에 지역 고유의 장소성과 정체성을 보존하는 것입니다. 그렇기 때문에 내부 프로그램도 기존 커뮤니티를 보존하고 주민의 참여를 확대시키는 공간으로 만들었습니다. 본 프로젝트에서는 더 나아가 지역 주민의 경제적 자립 기반까지 마련하는 것을 목표로 하였습니다
Beyond the slope of Seongbuk-dong diplomatic home complex, a representative rich village in Seoul, there is Bukjeong Village, called ‘the last remaining shanty town in Seoul’ at the foot of the mountain just below Hanyangdoseong. It was designated as a redevelopment area in August 2011 and is currently approved to establish a union with the aim of creating a hanok village, but the development has been canceled due to residents’ conflicts, so residents are still living in very poor conditions.
The plan is to transform the entrance to Bukjeong Village, which is neglected and unable to function, into a space for residents. At the same time, we would like to propose a remodeling that has the characteristics of integrated urban regeneration by making it a win-win cultural space for residents and visitors.
The key point of the Bukjong Village remodeling project is to improve the aging residential environment and simultaneously preserve the unique locality and identity. Therefore, the internal program was also created as a space to preserve the existing community and expand the participation of residents. Furthermore, the goal of this project was to establish the foundation for economic independence of residents.
