Architectural and Urban Theory Laboratory

The primary research interest of The A&UT Laboratory (The Architectural and Urban Theory Laboratory) is to extend the significance of phenomenology such as the acknowledgment of the everyday, perceptual exploration, and the situational augmentation of human affairs from the level of theory to the level of architectural and urban planning and design. The Laboratory conducts continuous group research activities such as an annual survey to an international site, which is conjoined with a participation in a conference, monthly surveys into different parts of Korea, and monthly seminars on topics of architectural and urban theories. The goal of these research activities is to publish a book containing unprejudiced interpretations of refreshing architectural and urban phenomena. The Laboratory often conducts practical research projects such as planning and design works as a way of applying and testing theoretical research results.
