Before joining the SNU Architecture Department in fall 2004, Sohyun Park was a faculty member at the University of Colorado’s College of Architecture and Planning, where she taught and researched courses such as planning studio, urban design policies, and streets. She got her PhD in Urban Design and Planning from the University of Washington, Seattle, writing her dissertation, “From Redevelopment to Preservation: Downtown Planning in Post-war Seattle”; MS in Historic Preservation from the University of Oregon’s College of Architecture and Allied Arts; and ME and BE in Architecture from the Yonsei University.
Her research interests include how to interpret the complicated characteristics and diverse meanings of the cultural and historical places of everyday lives; and how to promote communal efforts to plan for more livable places with better design qualities.
